Here’s How to Plan the Best Aspen Wedding Ever

Are you looking to plan the best destination wedding your guests have ever seen? You’ve landed on the right blog! Make Aspen your wedding location and watch the magic unfold. Right before your eyes you will be amazed as you prepare to say “I Do”. We know how daunting planning a wedding can be, and we’re here to help! In this blog, discover how to plan the most enchanting Aspen wedding and enjoy a stress-free process. So, are you ready? Read on, take notes, and get ready for your happily ever after!

Learn more about the top things to do in Aspen in our free Travel Guide! This exclusive planning tool gives you access to our favorite recommendations. Local restaurants, events, shops, museums, outdoor activities, and more. It’s a great resource to have, as you spend the first few days of your new life together in Aspen. It’s also a great guide for your guests as well.

5 Tips for Planning the Perfect Aspen Wedding

Pick the Right Time of Year

The first thing that you should probably figure out above all is when you want to get married. Now that the initial excitement of the engagement has worn off, and you need to sit down to plan things out, you might find yourself drowning in an endless list of to-dos. Where do you begin? You start by picking a date, and the only way to do that is to figure out when the best wedding season is in Aspen! Since every couple is different, there’s no straight-forward answer to that.

If you are dreaming of winter–wonderland wedding, then December and January are the perfect times to pick because there will be snow and dazzling Christmas lights. Note that the winter weather can make it tricky for guests to get there, so if you’d rather play it safe and wait for warmer days, mid-May to late August is more reasonable. Not only will you be able to enjoy sunnier days and lush mountain backdrops, but you will also have more venue options when it comes to outdoor ceremonies!

Find the Venue of Your Dreams

Now that you have a date in mind, it’s time to secure a venue for your ceremony and reception. The first thing to figure out is whether you want an outdoor or an indoor wedding. Both options are great ideas in Aspen, but outdoor ceremonies and receptions are dependent on the weather, so we still recommend having a backup plan just in case. After all, the last thing you want to do during the days leading up to your wedding is worry! If you’re not from the area, knowing where to find the most stunning venues can be tricky. Here are some of our favorites we recommend:

  • Viceroy Snowmass
  • The Viewline Resort Snowmass
  • T Lazy 7 Ranch
  • Crested Butte Mountain Resort
  • The Elevation Hotel and Spa
  • Spring Creeks Ranch
  • The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa
  • Sonnenalp Hotel

Figure Out Which Vendors to Prioritize

Congratulations! Now that you have both your wedding date and location, you can focus on all the fun details! Vendors make up a great part of your budget, so it’s important to not only know which one to prioritize, but also which ones to work with. We recommend creating a top–three list to find out what is important to you and your future spouse. For example, is photography more important than the entertainment? Is the food more important than the florals? No matter what you choose to put first, you can’t go wrong, but it helps to know where to allocate your budget. Another great idea is to work directly with your venue when choosing your vendors. Indeed, most places will have a pre-made list of businesses they exclusively work with, which can help simplify your personal search, so take advantage of it!

Spice Up Your Wedding Photoshoot!

Do you want to have a wedding photoshoot prior to your big day? This could be either an engagement shoot to create personalized save–the–dates or formal wedding portraits to avoid having to do it all on your big day. You can either do the shoot at your venue to match the photos that will be taken on your wedding day, or you can be more creative and make the most of Aspen’s stunning surroundings! There’s nothing like shooting in nature surrounded by the mountains and turquoise lakes.

Offer Your Guest (And Yourself!) Top-Notch Accommodations

Your wedding is about you and your soon-to-be spouse. However, included are all the loved ones you wish to invite. If your Aspen wedding is a destination wedding, then you will need a variety of options. Luckily for you, we have the perfect solution. Aspen Signature Vacation Rentals offers the best selection of homes and condos in the area and can accommodate couples just as much as larger families.

Browse our properties today and get a better idea of what you are looking for! Make Your Vacation Extra Unique with These 3 Aspen Hidden Gems

John Denver Sanctuary

There are several things to do in Aspen, especially if you love the outdoors. However, if you are looking for more unique activities, how about getting off the beaten path? Our favorite Aspen hidden gem is the John Denver Sanctuary. It’s a must-see for any fans of the iconic singer! The sanctuary is in the Rio Grande Park downtown, right next to the Roaring Fork River. There, you’ll find the peaceful Song Garden, where you can have a quiet walk or picnic, as well as spot some of the singer’s lyrics engraved on beautiful rocks throughout the park.

T–Lazy–7 Ranch

Another fun and exciting hidden gem to discover is the T–Lazy–7 Ranch. It’s a fabulous spot if you’re traveling with your loved ones and wish to have some family fun! This 80-year-old ranch features many summer and winter activities, like snowmobile tours, horseback riding, fly-fishing, farm tours with live animals, and more.

Independence Pass

One hidden gem you cannot miss during your vacation is Independence Pass! This spectacular, two-lane, 12,095-feet pass offers some of the best views in the whole area and can make for stunning Instagram pictures. Did you know it’s the highest pass in the United States? It’s only open between March and November to avoid hazards, like falling rocks or snow. During the warmer months, you can pack a picnic and enjoy a scenic lunch overlooking the Aspen mountain range or go for a hike! The pass offers three easy trails, six moderate trails, and four difficult ones, so no matter your skill level, you’ll find the perfect adventure for you.

In this blog, learn all you need to know about hiking Maroon Bells and Crested Butte and discovering the splendor of Colorado’s outdoors. So, are you ready to plan one of the greatest trips? Let’s get started!

Learn more about the best things to do in Aspen in our free Travel Guide. This exclusive planning tool features our top recommendations for local restaurants, events, shops, museums, outdoor activities, and more.

3 Things You Need to Know Before Hiking Maroon Bells and Crested Butte

What’s the Best Time to Visit?

The first thing you should consider before planning a hiking trip to Maroon Bells and Crested Butte is the weather. Indeed, you don’t want to visit when the trails are covered in snow or when the wind is blowing hard! Although Aspen is a stunning destination year-round, summer and fall are the best times to come for hiking. You’ll get sunny skies and gorgeous, blooming nature! Temperatures range between 41 and 80 degrees from May through September.

How Do You Get There?

If you live around Colorado, we highly recommend you go on a fun road trip to Aspen! There’s nothing like hopping in your car and driving on the scenic Colorado roads through the mountains. Plus, you get to pack all you want since you have more room! If driving to Maroon Bells and Crested Butte isn’t an option for you (aka too long), you can also fly to Aspen! Denver International Airport is the easiest option as it has regular flights from all over the country (and the world). From there, you can find ground transportation that will take you right to Aspen! We highly recommend renting a vehicle so you can move around more easily during your stay.

What Should You Bring?

Now that we’ve figured out when and how to get to Aspen, it’s time to think of what you will need to hike Maroon Bells and Crested Butte. Here is a list to help you get started:

  • Hiking Boots
  • A reusable water bottle
  • A light backpack
  • Snacks
  • Several pairs of high-rise socks
  • Breathable T-shirts
  • Allergy medicine and anti-ivy cream
  • A camera
  • Sunglasses
  • A hat or cap
  • A hiking stick (if needed)
