5 Tips for Planning the Perfect Aspen Wedding

Pick the Right Time of Year

The first thing that you should probably figure out above all is when you want to get married. Now that the initial excitement of the engagement has worn off, and you need to sit down to plan things out, you might find yourself drowning in an endless list of to-dos. Where do you begin? You start by picking a date, and the only way to do that is to figure out when the best wedding season is in Aspen! Since every couple is different, there’s no straight-forward answer to that.

If you are dreaming of winter–wonderland wedding, then December and January are the perfect times to pick because there will be snow and dazzling Christmas lights. Note that the winter weather can make it tricky for guests to get there, so if you’d rather play it safe and wait for warmer days, mid-May to late August is more reasonable. Not only will you be able to enjoy sunnier days and lush mountain backdrops, but you will also have more venue options when it comes to outdoor ceremonies!

Find the Venue of Your Dreams

Now that you have a date in mind, it’s time to secure a venue for your ceremony and reception. The first thing to figure out is whether you want an outdoor or an indoor wedding. Both options are great ideas in Aspen, but outdoor ceremonies and receptions are dependent on the weather, so we still recommend having a backup plan just in case. After all, the last thing you want to do during the days leading up to your wedding is worry! If you’re not from the area, knowing where to find the most stunning venues can be tricky. Here are some of our favorites we recommend:

  • Viceroy Snowmass
  • The Westin Snowmass Resort
  • T Lazy 7 Ranch
  • Crested Butte Mountain Resort
  • The Elevation Hotel and Spa
  • Spring Creeks Ranch
  • The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa
  • Sonnenalp Hotel

Figure Out Which Vendors to Prioritize

Congratulations! Now that you have both your wedding date and location, you can focus on all the fun details! Vendors make up a great part of your budget, so it’s important to not only know which one to prioritize, but also which ones to work with. We recommend creating a top–three list to find out what is important to you and your future spouse. For example, is photography more important than the entertainment? Is the food more important than the florals? No matter what you choose to put first, you can’t go wrong, but it helps to know where to allocate your budget. Another great idea is to work directly with your venue when choosing your vendors. Indeed, most places will have a pre-made list of businesses they exclusively work with, which can help simplify your personal search, so take advantage of it!

Spice Up Your Wedding Photoshoot!

Do you want to have a wedding photoshoot prior to your big day? This could be either an engagement shoot to create personalized save–the–dates or formal wedding portraits to avoid having to do it all on your big day. You can either do the shoot at your venue to match the photos that will be taken on your wedding day, or you can be more creative and make the most of Aspen’s stunning surroundings! There’s nothing like shooting in nature surrounded by the mountains and turquoise lakes.

Offer Your Guest (And Yourself!) Top-Notch Accommodations

Your wedding is about you and your soon-to-be spouse, but it also includes all the loved ones you wish to invite. If your Aspen wedding is a destination wedding, then you will have to find options when it comes to lodging, not only for yourself, but also for your guests. Luckily for you, we have the perfect solution. Aspen Signature Vacation Rentals offers the best selection of homes and condos in the area and can accommodate couples just as much as larger families.

Browse our properties today and get a better idea of what you are looking for! We recommend booking your bridal party rentals ahead to not have to worry about it, then figure out a place for you and your spouse to stay after the reception. To make things easier for your guests, you can link our properties’ page directly on your wedding website so each can individually take care of the booking process.

Say “I Do” to Aspen Signature Vacation Rentals

We hope these tips can help you advance in your wedding planning! If you’re ready to take the next step, start browsing Aspen Signature Vacation Rentals and book your homes today! 3 Things You Need to Know Before Hiking Maroon Bells and Crested Butte

What’s the Best Time to Visit?

The first thing you should consider before planning a hiking trip to Maroon Bells and Crested Butte is the weather. Indeed, you don’t want to visit when the trails are covered in snow or when the wind is blowing hard! Although Aspen is a stunning destination year-round, summer and fall are the best times to come for hiking. You’ll get sunny skies and gorgeous, blooming nature! Temperatures range between 41 and 80 degrees from May through September.

How Do You Get There?

If you live around Colorado, we highly recommend you go on a fun road trip to Aspen! There’s nothing like hopping in your car and driving on the scenic Colorado roads through the mountains. Plus, you get to pack all you want since you have more room! If driving to Maroon Bells and Crested Butte isn’t an option for you (aka too long), you can also fly to Aspen! Denver International Airport is the easiest option as it has regular flights from all over the country (and the world). From there, you can find ground transportation that will take you right to Aspen! We highly recommend renting a vehicle so you can move around more easily during your stay.

What Should You Bring?

Now that we’ve figured out when and how to get to Aspen, it’s time to think of what you will need to hike Maroon Bells and Crested Butte. Here is a list to help you get started:

  • Hiking Boots
  • A reusable water bottle
  • A light backpack
  • Snacks
  • Several pairs of high-rise socks
  • Breathable T-shirts
  • Allergy medicine and anti-ivy cream
  • A camera
  • Sunglasses
  • A hat or cap
  • A hiking stick (if needed)

As you can see, no matter if you’re going biking on trails or through downtown, you’ll find what you need at Aspen Bicycles. You also have the option to rent the bike for a nine-hour day, 24-hour day, or even a full week! Note that the rental includes a helmet, a lock, and a bike basket.

Basalt Bike & Ski

Are you exclusively looking for a mountain bike to explore the Aspen outdoors? Head over to Basalt Bike and Ski! No matter if you are a veteran cyclist or a beginner wanting to experience something new, you’ll find the best equipment in this Valley Forge shop. It was founded in 2006 by biking lovers, and it shows in their services!

Choose between three options of bikes:

Premium Road or Mountain Bikes: $80 for four hours, $100 for eight hours, $150 for a full day, or $850 for the week.

Comfort E-Bike: $85 for four hours, $125 for eight hours, or $700 for the week (24-hour rental unavailable for that option).

Four Mountain Sports

Lastly, if you’ve already decided you want to go biking in Snowmass, how about renting your bike on location? Head over to the Snowmass Village’s shop, Four Mountain Sports! The store is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offers a great selection of bikes you’ll love. It’s convenient to not have to worry about transporting the bike to the trail, and you can drop it back off at the end of your adventure. If you’re visiting Aspen in the winter, you’ll be glad to know they also offer top-notch ski and snowboard rentals!

Practice Your Swing at These 4 Aspen Golf Clubs

Aspen Golf Club

If you’re looking to play a round of golf in a scenic and laid-back atmosphere, then the Aspen Golf Club is for you. This beautiful, public 18-hole course offers gorgeous views of the Roaring Fork Valley. Did you know it was ranked among the top 21 courses in the U.S.? It accommodates every level, which means you can easily take your children there and teach them how to play!

Snowmass Club Golf and Tennis

Snowmass Club Golf and Tennis is another one of our favorite courses in Aspen. This gorgeous 18-hole course was designed by award-winning architect Jim Engh and features 6,986 acres of landscape with a practice area, learning center, and even a restaurant! After playing for a couple of hours, enjoy a delicious meal and a refreshing drink!

Note that non-members can only play at the course after 1 p.m. for a fee of $250 per player.

Maroon Creek Club

If you’re familiar with Maroon Creek, you know how gorgeous it is, so imagine what golfing there can be like! The Maroon Creek Club is privately-owned and only 1 mile away from Aspen. Picture yourself swinging your club toward the snow-covered mountains in the distance, breathing in the fresh air coming from the lush pine trees surrounding you, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it? Make it a reality at Maroon Creek Club.

Aspen Glen Club

While Aspen Glen Golf Course is in Carbondale, 25 miles away from Aspen, it’s well worth the trip. This 18-hole championship course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and features stunning views of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork River. The course is family-friendly and even has a clubhouse restaurant where you can enjoy a mouthwatering dinner or lunch after your game.
